Rakesh Jain

Rakesh Jain has over 27 years of diverse and rich industry experience, out of which, about 18 years’ is in the Urban Transport sector in India.

Prior to joining DIMTS in 2009, Rakesh held various leadership roles in major infra companies like Larsen & Toubro Limited, and IL&FS Limited/IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Rakesh holds Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from MDI, Gurgaon with specializations in Finance and Information Management, and is a Bachelor of Engineering (Mech.) from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal.

As part of his work in the Urban Transport sector, he has been engaging with industry as well as with all levels of governments in India – central, states, and municipal corporations. Among others, he has led or has been part of several World Bank funded projects dealing with formulation of policies for Urban Bus Sector and Intelligent Transportation Systems in India and abroad.

He was convener of the committee [constituted by CMVR Technical Standing Committee] that framed the Automotive Industry Standard 140 (AIS-140): Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) - Requirements for Public Transport Vehicle Operation.
