Business Process Management
Vehicle Location and Tracking
Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System and Passenger Information System (PIS)
Client – Transport Department, GNCT Delhi, GMCBL, Gurugram, Nagpur Municipal Corporation and BEST, Mumbai
Background
To improve the efficiency, reliability and punctuality of the bus operations in the aforementioned cities and to ensure optimal deployment of the fleet, which would eventually lead to higher commuter satisfaction and improved level of confidence in bus services, the said authorities decided to entrust DIMTS with implementation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) Projects in the respective cities.
AIS-140 based tracking for Public Service Vehicles/ Paratransit: Delhi
AIS-140 based tracking for Public Service Vehicles/ Paratransit: Delhi (PIS)
Client – Transport Department, GNCT Delhi
Background
The Transport Department, Delhi awarded the responsibility of setting up and managing the Command & Control Centre for implementation of the automatic vehicle location system for para-transit and public service vehicles (such as three wheelers, taxis etc.) as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
The project delivers vehicle tracking services based on location updates received from GPS based EFM (Electronic Fare Meter) device installed in the T Auto Rickshaw (TSR) vehicles in Delhi. The objective of the Paratransit system is to monitor the movement of vehicles and ultimately be able to provide a sense of security to the commuters using TSR facility. The project scope broadly consists of following activities:
Application Software and Backend Management Services for tracking through Control Centre.
Integrated EFM Device empanelment and backend Integration.
The system provides the following functionalities/features:
- Provision of real time tracking of TSR location for the permit holders, Transport Department, Police etc.
- Complete history tracking, using GPS location updates from the devices.
- Trip based tracking/trip replay for any vehicle.
- Facilitation for panic alert handling in case of ‘Panic’ alert raised by the vehicle.
- Facilitation for handling/redress of public complaints like fare overcharging, non-stopping of TSR by driver etc.
- User level/Role based access to information.
- Automated event logging with time stamps (Like trips, GPS logs, panic alerts)
- Various reports for relevant authorities – like over-speeding, panic alerts log etc.
The following diagram shows the various interactions and the interfaces present in the system.
DIMTS has already successfully implemented, the System in over 150,000 vehicles since then.
DIMTS has built the system to be GPS device independent. While most AVL systems rely on a simple average speed of travel-based logic for display of ETA, DIMTS has implemented a unique self-learning algorithm for accurate calculation of ETA driven by historic travel speed data across road segments and time-of-day. The system has been developed with the capability to integrate with multiple map providers, PIS manufacturers etc and if fully compliant with the AIS-140 standards.
Water Tanker Distribution Management System
Water Tanker Distribution Management System
Client – Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Department, GNCT Delhi
Background
Urban water distribution corporations such as the DJB and HMWSSB, who desire to improve the efficiency, reliability and transparency of their water distribution through tankers and to have better management of fleet of vehicles thereby increasing effectiveness of operations, may plan to implement a Water Tanker Distribution Management System (WTDMS).
What is WTDMS?
The project involves access-based control for water dispensing at the filling stations, monitoring the movement of fleet of water tanker vehicles, geo-fencing of designated delivery locations and real time water level monitoring in tankers to ensure an end-to-end audit of the entire delivery system.
To make available relevant information to the citizens, the project envisages setting up a Call Centre and Central Control Station (CCS) based in a central office and call centre/ help desk function to register and monitor complaints and request.
Coverage
The project Water Tanker Distribution Management System covers the entire urban area, e.g. in case of DJB, 42 filling point locations, 800 water tankers and about 18,000 fixed delivery points in Delhi.
The WTDMS system, from the citizens’ perspective allows booking of complaint / request online or through call centre and check status of delivery or resolution of complaint online, call centre or through SMS. Delhi Jal Board is able to efficiently utilize water at filling point locations, increase efficiency in water delivery services by tracking vehicles in real-time, track and monitor the movement of tankers and drivers in real time basis to optimize operations, improve fleet utilization, schedules, and vehicle availability with accurate information to ensure optimum and effective utilization of water, avoidance in water wastages, better control of the tanker movements.
Solid Waste Management Solution
Client – South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), Delhi.
Background
Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), GOI, has empanelled DIMTS as technology partner for providing ICT platform for effective monitoring and management of solid waste management (SWM) activities in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of India through tracking and monitoring of vehicles engaged in the said services
What is eSBM (ICT based Solid Waste Management Platform)?
The broad objectives of the platform include:
- Vehicle tracking system – towards monitoring the fleet engaged, MIS on waste collection and transportation and real time alerts on breakdown.
- Mobile application for the ULB staff – for capturing BIN servicing status which are RFID enabled, attendance, waste quality reporting etc.
- Citizen portal and mobile app for complaints and transparency in the system
Coverage
eSBM is a state-of-the-art solution developed in-house by DIMTS for meeting the above stated objectives. It comprises of Web and Mobile applications, integrated with Vehicle Tracking Devices, RFID Readers and Biometrics to provide waste management solution to ULBs. This solution also provides a platform to effectively address citizen concerns through a grievance system for managing citizen complaints.
Currently the system is implemented in South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) across their four zones central, south, west and EE (E&M) Auto II wherein over 1300 vehicles engaged in the services of solid waste management are tracked and monitored through the eSBM platform. The system covers the entire waste management collection and disposal under SDMC and on a daily basis tracks around 1800 vehicle trips and clearing of waste from over 2800 assets in the jurisdiction of SDMC.
