Water Tanker Distribution Management System

Client – Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Department, GNCT Delhi

Background

Urban water distribution corporations such as the DJB and HMWSSB, who desire to improve the efficiency, reliability and transparency of their water distribution through tankers and to have better management of fleet of vehicles thereby increasing effectiveness of operations, may plan to implement a Water Tanker Distribution Management System (WTDMS).

What is WTDMS?

The project involves access-based control for water dispensing at the filling stations, monitoring the movement of fleet of water tanker vehicles, geo-fencing of designated delivery locations and real time water level monitoring in tankers to ensure an end-to-end audit of the entire delivery system.

To make available relevant information to the citizens, the project envisages setting up a Call Centre and Central Control Station (CCS) based in a central office and call centre/ help desk function to register and monitor complaints and request.

Coverage

The project Water Tanker Distribution Management System covers the entire urban area, e.g. in case of DJB, 42 filling point locations, 800 water tankers and about 18,000 fixed delivery points in Delhi. The WTDMS system, from the citizens’ perspective allows booking of complaint / request online or through call centre and check status of delivery or resolution of complaint online, call centre or through SMS. Delhi Jal Board is able to efficiently utilize water at filling point locations, increase efficiency in water delivery services by tracking vehicles in real-time, track and monitor the movement of tankers and drivers in real time basis to optimize operations, improve fleet utilization, schedules, and vehicle availability with accurate information to ensure optimum and effective utilization of water, avoidance in water wastages, better control of the tanker movements.

Solid Waste Management Solution

Background

Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), GOI, has empanelled DIMTS as technology partner for providing ICT platform for effective monitoring and management of solid waste management (SWM) activities in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of India through tracking and monitoring of vehicles engaged in the said services

What is eSBM (ICT based Solid Waste Management Platform)?

The broad objectives of the platform include:

  • Vehicle tracking system – towards monitoring the fleet engaged, MIS on waste collection and transportation and real time alerts on breakdown.
  • Mobile application for the ULB staff – for capturing BIN servicing status which are RFID enabled, attendance, waste quality reporting etc.
  • Citizen portal and mobile app for complaints and transparency in the system
Coverage

eSBM is a state-of-the-art solution developed in-house by DIMTS for meeting the above stated objectives. It comprises of Web and Mobile applications, integrated with Vehicle Tracking Devices, RFID Readers and Biometrics to provide waste management solution to ULBs. This solution also provides a platform to effectively address citizen concerns through a grievance system for managing citizen complaints.

Currently the system is implemented in South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) across their four zones central, south, west and EE (E&M) Auto II wherein over 1300 vehicles engaged in the services of solid waste management are tracked and monitored through the eSBM platform. The system covers the entire waste management collection and disposal under SDMC and on a daily basis tracks around 1800 vehicle trips and clearing of waste from over 2800 assets in the jurisdiction of SDMC.
